I didn’t know Kenneth and Simone before their wedding and having met them, I found them to be a beautiful couple; sweet and madly in love. And to think it all started by accident. Susan, a friend of Simone’s, split Kenneth’s drink at a party and between the apologies and the promises to get him another, Kenneth and Simone realised there might be something between them. After years of travelling between Ireland and Denmark, they decided to celebrate their wedding at the top of the Tofane mountain range in the Italian Dolomites.
Thanks to the great help of Raffaella from Distinctive Italy Weddings , everything went smoothly. The civil ceremony was celebrated on the terrace of Rifugio Col Drusciè - some 1774 metres high - which offered an incomparable view of Cortina d’Ampezzo covered in 50cm of freshly fallen snow. Drinks served on the terrace were accompanied by delicious pan-fried prawns ... yumm.

La cerimonia civile è stata celebrata sulla terrazza assolata del Rifugio Col Drusciè 1774 mt, semplicemente incomparabile la vista su Cortina d’Ampezzo innevata da 50cm di neve freschissima.
Il drink servito in terrazza è stato accompagnato da buonissimi gamberi fritti in pastella…mmmh.
With something in our stomachs, we got on the cable car again to reach 2475 metres and the Ra Valles refuge cabin where, in a room away from the hustle and bustle of the skiers, we were served a splendid aperitif.
Con lo stomaco alleviato siamo nuovamente rimontati in funivia per raggiungere i 2475 mt del rifugio capanna Ra Valles dove in una saletta riservata dalla folla di sciatori ci stato servito uno splendido aperitivo.
The day changed rapidly and in a few minutes it went from sunny to stormy. Fortunately, a tray of warm shots helped to restore us and conclude the afternoon nicely.
La giornata è cambiata rapidamente ed in pochi minuti siamo passati dal sole ad una fredda bufera di neve. Fortuna che è arrivato subito un bel vassoio di caldi “bombardini” per ristorarci e per concludere in bellezza il pomeriggio.

Upon our return to Cortina, there were a couple of hours to relax before the sumptuous dinner at Hotel Ancora. Simone cried tears of joy - she couldn’t believe that everything went so perfectly all day.
I have tried to describe their wedding down to the last detail. Below you will find many photos, maybe too many, but all necessary so everyone can relive – even those who weren’t present – this very special day.
Tornati a Cortina un paio d’ore di relax prima di affrontare la sontuosa cena all’Hotel Ancora, Simone ha pianto vere lacrime di gioia tutto il giorno, non ci poteva credere che tutto andasse cosi perfettamente liscio.
Per la prima volta cerco di raccontare un matrimonio fin nei minimi dettagli, di seguito troverete moltissime foto, forse troppe, ma necessarie per far rivivere a tutti, anche agli assenti, tutta la giornata della festa.
